Autumn Equinox and the Dance of Balance

Hey there, lovely souls! Can you feel it? The crispness in the air, the leaves starting to don their fiery hues, and that unmistakable scent of autumn… It’s that time of year again, when nature puts on its most spectacular show, and the energies around us shift into a different gear. Yes, you guessed it right – it’s the Autumn Equinox!

As we bid farewell to the long, lazy days of summer and welcome the cosy embrace of fall, there’s something truly magical about this transitional phase. The Autumn Equinox, also known as Mabon in some spiritual circles, marks the point of perfect balance in the wheel of the year. Day and night share equal time, reminding us of the importance of equilibrium in our own lives. This year it falls on Saturday 23rd September.

Let’s explore the spiritual significance of this enchanting time and find out how we can tap into its energies for personal growth and introspection.

Harvesting the Fruits of our Soul’s Labour

Picture this: a field ripe with golden wheat, apples heavy on the boughs, and pumpkins sprawling across the earth. This is nature’s way of reminding us that it’s time to reap what we’ve sown. In our own lives, the Autumn Equinox is an opportunity for reflection. What have we achieved? What goals have we met? It’s a time to acknowledge our efforts and take pride in our accomplishments.

But it’s not just about material gains; it’s about the harvest of experiences, wisdom, and personal growth. Take a moment to give thanks for the lessons learned and the strength gained. Gratitude is a powerful force that amplifies our blessings and invites more positivity into our lives.

Embracing Balance and Harmony

As day and night stand side by side, we’re reminded of the delicate dance between light and dark within ourselves. It’s a time to acknowledge and honour our shadows, those parts of us that need a little extra love and attention. By embracing both our light and dark aspects, we find a sense of wholeness and unity within ourselves.

Consider this a moment of inner housekeeping. What habits, thoughts, or beliefs are throwing you off balance? Now is the perfect time to realign your energies and find that sweet spot of equilibrium. Whether through meditation, journalling, or simply spending time in nature, allow the Autumn Equinox to be a catalyst for inner harmony.

Letting Go and Making Space

Autumn is nature’s grand finale before the quiet introspection of winter. The trees shed their leaves, releasing what no longer serves them. Similarly, the Autumn Equinox invites us to let go of what’s holding us back. It’s a time to release old patterns, relationships, or situations that no longer align with our highest good.

Take a moment to write down what you’re ready to release. Visualise it as golden leaves falling gently to the ground, making space for fresh, new energy to flow in. Trust that by letting go, you’re creating room for transformation and growth.

Honoring the Sacred Within and Without

During this sacred time, it’s important to remember that the magic of the Autumn Equinox isn’t limited to rituals or ceremonies. The simple act of being present in nature, feeling the crunch of leaves beneath your feet, and breathing in the earthy scent of fallen foliage is a spiritual experience in itself.

Why not take a leisurely walk through a park or woodland, allowing your senses to soak in the beauty around you. Feel the connection between your soul and the natural world. This is where true magic resides – in the whispers of the wind, the rustle of leaves, and the song of birds.

Nourishing the Soul

As the days grow shorter and the nights longer, it’s important to nurture your inner light. Surround yourself with things that bring you joy and warmth. Light candles, sip on herbal teas, and indulge in hearty, nourishing meals. This is a season of self-care and self-love, a time to replenish your energy and prepare for the introspective months ahead.

So, dear kindred spirits, let’s welcome the Autumn Equinox with open hearts and open minds. Embrace the beauty of change, honor the dance of light and dark within you, and let go of what no longer serves your soul. May this season be a tapestry of transformation, love, and boundless magic. Happy Equinox, and may your days be filled with golden blessings! 🍂✨

Navigating the Menopause: A Spiritual Perspective

Menopause is a profound and transformative phase in a woman’s life. Beyond the physical changes and hormonal shifts, it’s an opportunity for spiritual growth and self-discovery. In this blog, we’ll explore menopause from a spiritual standpoint, shedding light on how this transition can be embraced and empowered with mindfulness, self-compassion, and holistic well-being (all the things we do best here at Quest).

  1. Embrace the Divine Feminine: Menopause signifies a shift from the fertile, child-bearing years to a new phase of life. It’s a time to embrace and honor the divine feminine energy within. This transition can be viewed as a spiritual initiation, where wisdom and intuition become your guiding lights. Practices like meditation, journaling, and connecting with your inner self can help you tap into this sacred feminine energy.
  2. Embracing Change: Change is the only constant in life, and menopause is no exception. Embracing this change with grace and acceptance is a spiritual practice in itself. Recognise that it’s an opportunity to shed what no longer serves you, just as trees shed their leaves in autumn. Let go of preconceived notions about aging and embrace the wisdom that comes with it.
  3. Mindful Awareness: Mindfulness is a powerful tool during menopause. It helps you stay present and attuned to your body and emotions. As you navigate through hormonal fluctuations, mindfulness can ease symptoms like mood swings and hot flushes. Incorporate mindfulness practices into your daily routine, such as deep breathing exercises, yoga, or walking meditation.
  4. Connecting with Your Body: Your body is the temple of your spirit. Menopause is an invitation to nurture it more than ever. Explore holistic health practices like herbal remedies, acupuncture, aromatherapy and Reiki to support your physical and emotional well-being. Listen to your body’s cues and provide it with the care and nourishment it deserves. You can find your local Reiki practitioners here.
  5. Rituals and Ceremonies: Creating rituals or ceremonies around menopause can be a beautiful way to mark this transition spiritually. Lighting a candle, performing a self-blessing, or holding a sacred ceremony with friends and family can help you honour this significant milestone. It’s a way to acknowledge the wisdom and strength you’ve gained throughout your life journey.
  6. Self-Compassion: Menopause can be challenging, in every sense. Self-compassion is a key spiritual practice during this time. Treat yourself with the same kindness and understanding you’d offer family or friends going through a similar experience. Be patient with yourself, and know that it’s okay to seek support if you need to.
  7. Exploring Inner Wisdom: Menopause often brings introspection and a deeper connection to your inner self. Take this time to explore your inner wisdom and intuition. Journaling, meditation, and dream analysis can help you tap into the profound insights that emerge during this phase.
  8. Healing from Within: Many women find that menopause brings up unresolved emotional issues from the past. It’s an opportunity for healing and releasing emotional baggage. Seek support from a therapist or counsellor if needed, and consider energy healing practices like Reiki or chakra balancing to release stagnant energy and promote emotional well-being. You might even like to consider Reiki 1 training, as it’s all about self-healing.
  9. Embracing New Passions: As you enter this new phase of life, you may discover new passions and interests. Embrace them wholeheartedly. Whether it’s art, travel, volunteering, or learning a new skill, these pursuits can infuse your life with purpose and joy.
  10. Building a Supportive Community: Finally, surround yourself with a supportive community of like-minded individuals. Join women’s circles, spiritual groups, or online communities where you can share your experiences, learn from others, and offer your wisdom to those who are also on this transformative journey.

Menopause is a spiritual awakening, a journey of self-discovery, and an opportunity to connect with your inner wisdom and divine feminine energy. Embrace it with open arms, knowing that this phase of life is filled with growth, healing, and empowerment. As you navigate the menopausal journey, remember to nurture your body, mind, and spirit, and seek support and guidance from your spiritual community and holistic practices. In doing so, you’ll find that menopause can be a deeply spiritual and fulfilling experience.

Pendulums

What is a pendulum?

A pendulum is a simple yet powerful tool used in divination, energy healing, and spiritual practices. It consists of a weighted object, often a crystal or metal, attached to a string or chain. When held or suspended, the pendulum swings back and forth or in circular motions, responding to subtle energy vibrations. It is believed to tap into the intuition and subconscious mind, providing answers, insights, and guidance. By asking specific questions, the pendulum’s movements can indicate yes or no responses, reveal hidden truths, and assist in decision-making processes. It serves as a bridge between the conscious and unconscious realms, aiding in spiritual exploration and self-discovery.

Here is our step-by-step guide on how to use a pendulum:

    • Choose a Pendulum: Select a pendulum that resonates with you. It can be made of crystal, metal, or any other material that you connect with energetically.

    • Cleanse and Energise: Before using your pendulum for the first time, cleanse it of any residual energies by placing it under running water or using other purification methods such as smudging or intention setting. Then, hold it in your hands and infuse it with your positive intentions and energy.

    • Set Up a Clear Space: Find a quiet and peaceful space where you can focus without distractions. It’s also helpful to clear the space energetically by burning incense, using essential oils, or any other method that resonates with you.

    • Establish a Clear Intent: State your intention for using the pendulum. It can be seeking guidance, receiving answers, or connecting with your intuition. Clarify that you want the pendulum to show you clear and accurate responses.

    • Hold the Pendulum: Hold the pendulum gently between your thumb and forefinger, allowing it to hang freely. Ensure that your hand is relaxed, and the pendulum has enough room to swing without obstruction.

    • Establish Yes/No Responses: Begin by asking the pendulum to show you its “yes” response. Observe the direction of its swing—clockwise, counterclockwise, back and forth, or side to side. Repeat the process to establish the “no” response. This will vary from person to person and pendulum to pendulum, so it’s crucial to establish your unique responses.

    • Ask Questions: With your intentions in mind, ask clear and specific questions. Allow the pendulum to swing or rotate, and observe its movements. Interpret the responses based on your predetermined “yes” and “no” signals. Practise different types of questions to gain confidence and accuracy.

    • Trust Your Intuition: Remember that the pendulum is a tool that amplifies your intuition. Trust your inner guidance and instincts when interpreting the pendulum’s responses. Practice regularly to enhance your connection and accuracy.

    • Cleanse and Store: After each use, cleanse your pendulum to remove any residual energies. You can use the same methods mentioned in point 2. Find a safe and respectful place to store your pendulum when not in use, ensuring it remains protected and charged.

What else can you use a pendulum for?

Apart from divination and guidance, a pendulum can be used for various purposes. It can be utilised in energy healing practices, such as Reiki, to detect and balance energy imbalances within the body. They can also be used in dowsing to locate objects, water sources, or ley lines. They can assist in clearing spaces by detecting stagnant or negative energies. Pendulums can aid in chakra balancing and alignment, as well as in determining the energetic properties of crystals or objects. Additionally, they can be used as an alternative way of choosing an oracle or tarot card.

Remember, when using a pendulum, the accuracy response relies on your focus, intention, and connection with your intuition. With practice and trust, the pendulum can become a valuable tool for seeking guidance, clarity, and self-discovery in your spiritual journey.

Chakras Explained

Welcome to this fortnight’s blog – Chakras Explained. The concept of chakras originated in ancient India, specifically within the traditions of Hinduism and was later incorporated into practices like Buddhism. The earliest known mention of chakras can be found in ancient Indian texts called the Vedas which were composed between 1500 and 500 BCE. The precise time of their discovery or origin is difficult to determine as they emerged as part of a broader spiritual and philosophical tradition over thousands of years. Today we are going to explore in a little more detail the seven main chakras and how we can keep them balanced.

What are Chakras?

According to some Eastern spiritual traditions, Chakras are believed to be energy centers or wheels of energy within the human body – particularly those found in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Tantra. The word “chakra” comes from the Sanskrit language, meaning “wheel” or “disk.” There are generally seven main chakras that are commonly discussed, and each is associated with a specific location in the body and has its unique qualities and characteristics. Here is a brief overview of the seven main chakras:

    • Crown Chakra (Sahasrara): Located at the top of the head, it is associated with spiritual connection, higher consciousness, and enlightenment.

    • Third Eye Chakra (Ajna): Located between the eyebrows, it is associated with intuition, insight, and spiritual awareness.

    • Throat Chakra (Vishuddha): Located in the throat area, it is associated with communication, self-expression, and truth.

    • Heart Chakra (Anahata): Located in the center of the chest, it is associated with love, compassion, forgiveness, and emotional well-being.

    • Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura): Located in the upper abdomen, it is associated with personal power, confidence, and self-esteem.

    • Sacral Chakra (Svadhishthana): Located in the lower abdomen, it is associated with emotions, sensuality, creativity, and sexuality.

    • Root Chakra (Muladhara): Located at the base of the spine, it is associated with stability, grounding, and the basic needs of survival.

It is believed that when the chakras are balanced and in harmony, they contribute to our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Sometimes our chakras may be come out of alignment which can lead to physical discomfort or illness, emotional imbalances, lack of energy flow, feeling disconnected or unfocused, and difficulty in maintaining healthy relationships or a sense of purpose. Fortunately, there are a few things you can do to realign your chakras and bring the balance back:

    • Meditation: Focus on each chakra individually, envisioning its color and affirming its qualities.

    • Yoga: Practice poses that stimulate and activate specific chakras.

    • Sound therapy: Listen to specific frequencies or use chanting to harmonise chakras.

    • Aromatherapy: Use essential oils associated with each chakra during meditation or baths. You can read more about this in our previous blog.

    • Crystal healing: Place gemstones or crystals aligned with each chakra on the corresponding areas.

    • Mindfulness: Pay attention to your thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations, addressing any imbalances.

    • Reiki or energy healing: Seek the assistance of a qualified practitioner to clear and balance your chakras. Check out www.reikisurrey.co.uk and take a look at our directory for a practitioner near you. If you can’t find a local practitioner, why not consider distant healing with one of our listed practitioners.

All of the above are great ways to keep your chakras in alignment and nicely balanced. If you feel you are in need of a little balancing, choose one or two things from the list to try. See how your body feels and responds afterwards.

Divine Inspiration

Divine inspiration refers to the belief that certain individuals are inspired or influenced by a divine force. This concept can be found in various religions, where it is believed that God or other deities have directly or indirectly guided or influenced certain individuals. Divine inspiration is also associated with creativity, where artists and writers may experience a moment of inspiration that feels otherworldly and beyond their own capabilities.

In religious contexts, divine inspiration is often linked to prophets, who are believed to have received messages or visions from God. These messages may be in the form of scripture, prophecy, or teachings that are considered to be holy or sacred. For example, in Christianity, the Bible is believed to have been divinely inspired by God and is considered to be the authoritative text for the faith. Similarly, in Islam, the Quran is believed to have been revealed to the Prophet Muhammad by the angel Gabriel.

In addition to religious texts, divine inspiration can also be attributed to religious leaders, saints, and mystics. These individuals are believed to have had direct experiences of the divine and have been able to communicate these experiences to others. For example, in Hinduism, the ancient sage Vyasa is credited with composing the epic poem the Mahabharata, which is believed to have been divinely inspired.

I looked in temples, churches and mosques. But found the Divine within my heart.

Rumi

Beyond religion, divine inspiration is often associated with creativity and the arts. Many artists and writers describe moments of inspiration where they feel as though they are receiving ideas from a source outside of themselves. This can manifest in various ways, such as a sudden burst of inspiration, a dream or vision, or a feeling of being guided by an unseen force. Some artists may even describe their work as a form of worship or a way of connecting with the divine.

While the concept of divine inspiration is often associated with religion and creativity, it can also be applied to other areas of life. For example, some people may describe a feeling of divine inspiration when they are making important decisions or taking action towards a particular goal. They may feel as though they are being guided by a higher power or that their actions are part of a larger, divine plan.

Divine inspiration tends to come when we have a quiet moment; whether that’s in the morning upon waking or when we are out in nature. Divine Inspiration can come through as images, words, feelings or just an inner knowing. The more we learn to embrace the silence, the greater the opportunity of experiencing Divine inspiration.

Forest Bathing

In light of the beautiful new Spring energy we now have around us, we thought ‘forest bathing’ would be the ideal topic for this fortnight’s blog. Forest bathing originated in Japan in the 1980’s and is referred to there as ‘shinrin-yoku’ (shinrin meaning forest and yoku meaning bath/bathing). So what is it? Well, it’s the practice of slowing down by fully immersing yourself in nature. We all know that spending time out in nature is good for the soul, but studies into forest bathing have shown how spending two hours ‘mindfully’ in a forest can have immense benefits on our health. If you take a look at the list below you’ll see just how beneficial it is.

    • Decreases blood pressure

    • Lowers the stress hormone cortisol

    • Promotes relaxation

    • Enhances mindfulness

    • Improves mental health, attention and mood

    • Boosts creativity

    • Strengthens immunity

    • Promotes good sleep

As we walk slowly through the forest, seeing, listening, smelling, tasting and touching, we bring our rhythms into step with nature.

Dr Qing Li

How to Forest Bathe

Forest bathing is a fully immersive experience. One that invigorates all your senses and allows you to consciously connect to nature. To get the maximum benefits, it’s important that you switch off from technology. So turning off your phone and popping it in your bag or pocket is a must!

As you walk through the forest, allow your senses to guide you. What can you see? Notice the different colours and shapes around you. What can you hear? Tune into the birdsong, the rustling of leaves and the gentle creak of the branches overhead. What can you feel? Run your hands over the trunks of the trees, leaves and twigs and notice the different textures. What can you smell? It might be the sweetness of the rain, or the earthy smells of the ground, or even the delicate perfume of spring blossoms. Don’t forget to take a break! Find a bench or a fallen tree to sit on, and reflect on how the forest makes you feel. Really notice it in the very core of your being. At this point, taking some long deep breaths, will send a message to your body that it safe. Notice how relaxed this instantly makes you feel. Really embrace the stillness of this moment and you might be surprised by the amount of wildlife you notice whilst you take this time for yourself.

And into the forest I go, to lose my mind and find my soul.

John Muir

Finally, don’t worry if you don’t have 2 hours to spare, you can start with a time you feel comfortable with and build it up. Remember, anytime spent in nature will have positive benefits. If you aren’t local to a forest or woodland, you can do the same in a park or even your garden. It’s all about taking the time to really connect and experience all nature has to offer.

Self-Care

At Spiritual Quest we believe it’s important to take time to check in with ourselves. We understand that life can be busy and things can get in the way, so here is a gentle reminder from us to you, to take a little time today and reflect on your self-care. You’ve probably heard the phrase ‘you can’t pour from an empty cup’ many a time. Think about it…from the moment we wake, we are continuously giving our energy to family, friends, work and life in general. If we don’t take time to replenish ourselves we can effectively ‘burn out’. The good news is that there are lots of things you can do to improve your self-care and overall well-being.

The Seven Pillars of Self-Care

We think the simplest way to look at self-care is to imagine seven pillars: emotional, mental, physical, spiritual, environmental, recreational and social. Each of these representing a different aspect of your life that needs to be nurtured. Let’s explore these a little more…

Emotional – Relates to your ability to acknowledge, process and reflect on your feelings, or matters of the heart. By strengthening your emotional pillar you begin to understand yourself better; giving you the strength to deal with set backs or challenges, as well as developing healthy emotional responses.

Mental – Mindset is everything! Creating a positive mindset through mindfulness techniques can have a significant impact on our stress levels. It can also increase our creativity and knowledge.

Physical – Probably the one that most people think of when they hear ‘self-care’. This pillar covers everything from exercise, nutrition, hygiene and sleep.

Spiritual – Something that we at Spiritual Quest are huge advocates of…your spiritual growth. It’s the practices that allow us to nourish our soul; giving us purpose, direction and bringing meaning to our lives.

Environmental – Our living and working environments can have a huge impact on our head-space. Take a look at your environment. How do they look or feel? If they are cluttered, there’s a good chance that’s how you’ll feel too. Take time to clear these spaces and it’ll help bring you the clarity you need.

Recreational – As we age, we often forget about the little things that used to bring so much joy. Taking time to nurture your inner child with hobbies and activities that re-energise, will help you escape from day to day stresses and allow you to enjoy the simple pleasures in life once more.

Finally, Social – Our connections with others are so important for our self-care. Building positive, meaningful relationships with people who ‘get you’, can have an overwhelming impact on your life. Surround yourself, as much as you can, with people who bring you a sense of self-acceptance and belonging.

Take a moment to reflect on the points raised above. Think about what your current self-care practice looks like and what pillars you think could do with a little nurturing. Next, we’ll talk you through some very simple ways you can improve your self-care regime.

How to improve your self-care regime

There are so many wonderful things you can do to support and strengthen your pillars of self-care. It’s about finding the things you enjoy and those you know you’ll be able to easily incorporate into your life. Below is just a small selection of the things we like to do at Spiritual Quest to support our self-care.

    • Daily meditation

    • Connecting with nature by going for a walk, or spending time in the garden/park

    • Gentle exercise – Qi Gong, yoga, swimming and hitting the gym are favourites here

    • Journalling

    • Listening to music

    • Bathing with Himalayan bath salts

    • Spend time on hobbies and interests

    • Spending time with family and friends

    • Connecting to higher powers through spiritual and/or religious practice

    • Clearing the clutter – Let the spring clean commence

    • Eating regular nutritious meals and drinking plenty of water

    • Rest and getting a good amount of sleep

    • Disconnecting from technology and social media for a little time each day

The Year of The Rabbit

On the 22nd January, we leave the Year of The Tiger and enter the new year: the Year of The Rabbit. So what does this year have in store for us? Let’s find out!

The rabbit is known as one of the most gentle and tender out of the 12 animals, which is a dramatic difference to the roaring tiger and is why this year might start off a bit abrupt as we adjust to this slower pace. The year 2022 was designated as ‘yang’, the active principle of Chinese philosophy so, combined with the tiger energy, we would have felt vitality, positivity and enthusiasm. However, this combination also leads to restlessness and burn out.

The year 2023 will be ‘yin’, and the rabbit will encourage a much more gentle pace. It will be a time for rest and reflection, and will give you an opportunity for contemplation. But this doesn’t mean it’s a year of downtime, as rabbits are quick and clever when needed. They can adapt to their environment and make decisive decisions based on their situation and threat level. With this energy, you can work towards your goals in a steady, confident manner and will be able to overcome any obstacles in 2023 with a clear and calm head.

The yin nature will also heighten the qualities of the rabbit, helping you be more receptive, intuitive and accepting. The idea of yin and yang is that opposite forces complement one another to offer harmony and balance overall, so if you feel a bit burnt out after 2022, this year will help restore your energy levels and bring balance back into your life.

Chinese Astrologers have a few tips on how to harness the rabbit’s energy:

  • If you’re used to tight schedules, you may find your routines soften and relax throughout the year. This may take some adjustment at first, but it’s a good thing so let it happen!
  • For career and financial success, try to start things as early as possible in the year. This will give your ideas and intentions time to blossom in an organic way.
  • Rabbits are incredibly social and affectionate creatures, so it’s the perfect time to strengthen relationships and build new ones. If you’re single, you may have more chances with romantic potentials. Love is important to rabbits, so embody the traits of someone who makes a good partner – be affectionate!
  • The rabbit is associated with peace, prosperity and longevity in Asia – so above all, this year will bring hope. Remember this as you progress through the year.
  • Those who celebrate the Chinese New Year will incorporate motifs of the animal in their homes and businesses so add rabbit ornaments, like the ones below, to remind you of the rabbit’s energy.

We hope The Year of The Rabbit will be a successful year for you!

The Chinese Lunar Calendar is based on 12 animals, each with their own attributes and energy. To find out more about how the calendar came about, read our blog here.

The Ohm Symbol & How To Use It

One of the most widely recognised symbol is Ohm (or Om or Aum) but do you know the meaning behind it and how to use it to enhance your meditation or self healing practice?

Ohm is beyond time and is considered the source of all creation, the eternal oneness of all that is. It is thought to be the most sacred symbol in yoga and can be universally used. Ohm (pronounced like HOME without the H) is made up of 4 sounds, corresponding to four levels of consciousness:

‘A’ conscious, waking state
‘U’ unconscious, dream state
‘M’ subconscious, deep sleep state
And the fourth sound is silence which represents the absolute consciousness that illuminates the previous three states.

Ohm can also be thought of as the manifestation of the divine perfection, or the sound of the universe itself. It is a very well-rounded sound that balances opening and closing (yin and yang), sending a smooth vibration throughout the body. One way of using Ohm is as a chant, and to feel the energy vibration and movement within your body, and observe the effects. This is likely to change over time, as your energy changes day-by-day and, if you practise regularly, you will become more in-tune with any energy blockages and flows within your body.

Try this exercise:

  1. Get into a comfortable position and take some deep breaths.
  2. Invite the divine energy to flow for your highest good and continue to breathe deeply.
  3. Imagine the divine energy spreading through your body, noticing where it is flowing freely; are there any cold spots? Or areas where the energy feels stagnant or dark? Take some time to perform a body scan.
  4. Take a deep breath in, and then on the exhale, make the sound ‘ohm’ on one long exhale. You might want to start softly, and then increase the volume and intensity as you continue to chant on the next few exhales. Don’t think about your chant, just try to connect to how your energy feels and where you feel it in your body.
  5. Let the vibrations fill through your body. You may be able to push them out into your energy field as you become more familiar and at ease with your chant. How does that feel?
  6. When you are ready, gradually bring your attention back inside your body and draw your energy to your dantian (your energy store), in the centre of your abdomen.
  7. Let the energy continue to flow and again, scan your body. Do you notice any shifts?
  8. Enjoy this feeling of calm and self-healing for as long as you feel you need to.

You can also incorporate the Ohm symbol into your life and sacred space to remind you of your connection to the Universe. Each part of the symbol itself has meaning:

The lower left curve represents the conscious, waking state of being.
The top left curve is the unconscious state.
The lower right curve is the dream state – the state between the waking and the unconscious.
The semicircle at the top is the maya state. Maya means ‘illusion’ – said to be the biggest obstacle to spiritual development.
The dot at the top represents the absolute state of consciousness – the ultimate state of spiritual bliss where you can just be.

Changing your thoughts and reality

Many of us forget that we are in fact in control of our thoughts and reality. Let’s talk about how we can take control of our thoughts and reality and show up as the best version of ourselves.

Our thoughts affect our reality, it triggers an emotion which triggers a body reaction that makes us act in a certain way. This creates a mental pattern which we end up sub consciously repeating which in return alters our reality.

Our thoughts about ourself and how we perceive the world are based around our core beliefs. Core beliefs are deeply rooted under the surface of everything. Acknowledging our core beliefs is the first step so we can work on changing them which will help the process of changing your thoughts.

The pattern:

Core belief (The way we view ourselves/world based on experiences) “I am not worthy of love, my father wasn’t in my life, he didn’t care about me and I never received his love”

Activating event (Something happens which is problematic for us)A partner ends the relationship with you.

Thoughts (How we interpret the event. This will be effected by the situation we are in, our core beliefs, and previous experiences of similar situations) “I am not good enough for love, what is wrong with me? Why can people not love me. I am not worthy of love”

Emotions (What we feel following the event. This will be effected by our interpretation. We may feel a range of emotions)“I feel sadness, I feel angry, I feel confused, I feel fearful”

Behaviour (Taking into consideration all of the above, we act on the event)An insecure attachment style is formed which affects the behaviour, you may behave clingy and needy in a relationship, and behave in a selfish, manipulative way when you become vulnerable or shy away completely from relationships.

How can we change this mental pattern?

To change this pattern we must go inwards so we can dive deep into our core beliefs and face them. Write a list out of all the things you believe to be true about yourself and the world. It’s important to remember when you do this exercise to be completely honest with yourself.

Our core beliefs can be changed, if you write on your list “I am not worthy of a happy and healthy relationship” write the opposite next to it “I am worthy of a happy and healthy relationship” the key to this exercise is to use the opposite statement as an affirmation always speak in the present tense “I AM”. Repeat these affirmations to your self everyday the more you say this you will start to believe it. It may be hard at first but when you start to really feel it you will condition it as a core belief.

When an activating event happens and it triggers thoughts, you may feel more comfortable to fall back into old thoughts patterns but you need to challenge these thoughts, you can do this by keeping a thought record. I personally like to act as if I take my thoughts into a court. See an example below for how I process my negative thoughts:

Put your thought into the dock (What is the negative thought bothering me?)

Defence (What evidence do I have to suggest this thought is true? What solid facts do I have to bring forward to convince the jury this is accurate?)

Prosecution (What evidence do I have to suggest this thought is false? What solid facts do I have to bring forward to the jury to discredit this thought?)

Jury (A jury’s job is to weigh up the evidence for and against the thought, they have to set aside feelings and make a balanced judgement based on the evidence presented)

Verdict (Given with all the evidence presented what do you think of the original thought now? What is a balanced and realistic way of looking at the thought now? Sum up your new way of thinking)

What’s next?

Now you have started to affirm your new core beliefs about yourself and challenging any negative thoughts you will be starting to feel more positive and balanced in life. You are learning to be more self aware, you are getting to know yourself better, and you have more of an idea of what you want in life. When you feel good about yourself and your way of thinking is more balanced it becomes easier to manifest your desires because you are now feeling you are worthy of everything you desire in life.

Write out what you desire in your life, write in the present tense as if you already have it. (“I am grateful for the healthy, loving relationships I have in my life”) think about how you would feel if you had your desire in your life, if you desired a healthy, loving relationship, you would feel happiness, joy, excitement etc. Focus on thoughts that make you feel like this this and you will start to attract this into your life!

We have some books on how our thoughts and words affect the experiences we have in our daily lives, and how we can use affirmations to attract our desired life. We also have a Self – Healing crystal set to help you on your healing journey.
